Boylesports is set to proceed with a takeover bid worth at least €25 million ($28.5 million) for Ladbrokes’ Irish arm despite having failed to secure further information on the bookmaker’s operations in the country.
As reported by iGaming Business, Ireland’s High Court last week turned down a request from Boylesports to access sensitive information about the Ladbrokes arm.
Boylesports had previously stated that it required access to such information if it were to go ahead with a bid for Ladbrokes Ireland, a business that it first declared its interest in acquiring back in May.
However, speaking after the ruling, John Boyle, founder and chief executive of Boylesports, said the company remained “committed” to making a bid for the operation despite the decision.
A Boylesports spokesperson has now confirmed to the Sunday Independent Irish newspaper that the firm will proceed with a bid, despite not having access to the information it requested.
Although the spokesman did not confirm how much Boylesports would offer to take control of Ladbrokes Ireland, the newspaper suggests the bid is likely to be worth at least €25m.
Betfred, which has also been linked with a possible bid for the Ladbrokes arm, is yet to disclose its intentions.
