Online
gambling company Betfair is to remain in the regulated New Jersey
market after striking a new deal with US operator Caesars Interactive
Entertainment.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has granted both parties a conditional six-month approval for a ‘Data Centre Sublicense Agreement’, under which Betfair can relocate its servers and other hardware infrastructure to one of Caesars’ properties in the US state.
The move comes after Betfair previously announced it would continue to operate in the state despite its partner in New Jersey, land-based operation Trump Plaza, closing down last month.
The new partnership will see Betfair continue to operate the New Jersey-facing BetfairCasino.com website that was previously licensed under its deal with Trump Plaza.
Although the DGE order does not state whether Betfair and Caesars will launch any new online gaming websites, it does invite such applications to be submitted to the state’s governing body.
