Rep. Samuel Pagdilao, a member of the Philippines Anti-Crime and
Terrorism Community Involvement and Support organisation, has proposed
new regulations that would impose strict fines on online gambling
website operators that allow under-age visitors to gain access.
Pagdilao has introduced Bill 4540 to the House of Representatives in the Philippines, which is a growing gambling market.
His proposal calls for five to 10 years in jail or fines of up to $230,000 (€171,000) for licensees who knowingly allow minors to place bets online.
Under the bill, operators within the Philippines would have to be licensed through the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, which would assume control of such regulatory matters, according to the Philippine Star newspaper.
